New Translation of Rumi's Quatrains

June 28, 2009
New Translation of Rumi's QuatrainsThe first complete translation of the nearly 2,000 quatrains attributed to Jalaluddin Rumi, the famous 13th-century mystical poet has just appeared. It is the result of over 22 years of collaboration by an American Rumi scholar Ibraham Gamard and Rawan Farhadi, an Afghan scholar of Persian literature. This collection will appeal to readers who seek a deeper understanding of Rumi’s spiritual teachings than popular interpretive versions claimed can provide, and also to those interested in religious mysticism in general and Islamic mysticism (sufism) in particular.
